2010 West High School Winter Music Concert - Monday December 13, West High Auditorium under the direction of Mr. Aaron Moore
The program began with Handbell Choir playing "More Precious Than Silver" followed by "Carmen Ohio," "Ode to Joy/Joy to the World, and ending with "Frosty the Snowman."
Their hard work showed as both of the Handbell Choir was excellent.
It was nice to see the first floor of the auditorium nearly filled to capacity. The tickets were only $3 per person with the proceeds supporting the West music programs.

The Bell Choir was followed by a Senior Solo by Rebecca Beatty who sang "Mine." She performed wonderfully and was well received the those in the audience.
Next was the Junior Choir who sang four selections - "Comin' Up Christmas Time," "It's the Holiday Season," "A Holly Jolly Christmas," and "The Wind Beneath My Wings."
They were accompanied by Mr. Nathan Laing on the piano.
Twins Kara and Tara Brigner performed "Dreaming of You."

The String Ensemble, under the direction of Mr. Mark Sampson, played three selections - "String Celebration," "Boogie-Man Blues," and "Rhythms of Africa."

They were well practiced and did a very nice job and stood for their well deserved applause.

New this year was the Women's Ensemble. Mr. Moore said that so many ladies tried out for the regular Ensemble that has limited space, that he decided to form a new group.

Twenty-one ladies were in the group this year, and they did a great job entertaining everyone!
The ladies sang and performed to "You Belong with Me," "All I Want for Christmas Is You," "Single Ladies with a Crush," and included a solo by Rebecca Beatty.

Ms. Amanda Reidenbaugh, West teacher, choreographed the performances.

Mrs. Kristin Michels does the choreography for the Ensemble.
After Intermission, Mr. Moore introduced The Ensemble.

This is the same group who performed at the Alumni Christmas Luncheon the previous Saturday. However, the acoustics in the West Auditorium are so much better than at the Fawcett Center. They sounded much better at West!

They sang and danced to eight songs.
The ladies had their turn on stage by themselves.
Then it was the guys turn to show off!

After the Ensemble performed, Officer Brent Snyder, the Columbus Police Officer assigned to West, once again did a special performance.
This year he sang "The Christmas Shoes." Everyone enjoys Officer Snyder's singing, which is excellent.
The Senior Choir sang several selections.

They were accompanied by Mr. Nathan Laing.
Several times throughout the performance choir members stepped to the front of the stage for a solo. The gentleman singing a solo here was excellent and enjoyed very much by the audience.
All of the soloists did a great job.

They ended their performance with
"We Are the World 25 for Haiti."
All Alumni are always invited back for this traditional Christmas program, which is usually performed around the middle of December.
Watch for the date to be listed in the Alumni website Calendar next year and make an effort to attend. It will bring back many memories.
And as is customary, all alumni are invited on stage to join the West choir in the Grande Finale, the singing of "The Hallelujah Chorus" and the West Alma Mater.
This is always a special time for the current choir and the alumni.
