2010 Alumni Golf Outing - Phoenix Golf Links Course - August 27
The weather couldn't have been better for our 4th Golf Outing. At 8am it was 60 degrees, warming up to about 80 by the time everyone was off the course.
The event netted over $1200 for the Alumni Scholarship Fund, once again enough to provide one $1000 scholarship for a graduating senior next May with some left over to go toward another scholarship!
Our thanks to event chairperson Bill Kern '60 Jan. and his committee for putting together another successful alumni event.
The carts were waiting for our golfers.
The teams gathered for their group pictures before they left for the course.
First up - Team 'Harrison' - Rick McCord (Buckeye Valley '76), John Collins '79, Beverly Hill Harrison '50, Mike Collins '73. John and Mike are Beverly's sons.

The carts are lined up and everyone is ready to begin.
The golf bags are waiting.
We won't divulge who forgot to strap his golf bag on the back of his cart and lost it as they drove up the hill to start play!
Bill Kern and a Phoenix employee provide additional instructions.
The carts start out for the course. Several were heard saying this was their year to win! Our thanks to all who participated in this event this year with a special thanks to those who have participated all four years. We look forward to every one coming back in 2011.
Some of Bill's volunteers arranged the door prizes while the golfers were out on the course. Every golfer received a prize.

Our Skill hole! Pay $5 before you tee off, and if you make it on the green you get three golf balls.
If you make it inside the flagstick, you win a 3-pack of golf balls and double your money back.
Holding just some of the money she collected at the Skill hole, volunteer Marilyn Hicks explains the process to Beverly Harrison '50.

Everyone enjoys a great lunch in the clubhouse that was prepared by the Phoenix staff.
It included fresh baked chocolate chip cookies that were just scrumptious when warm (for those lucky enough to be in the clubhouse when the cookies came out of the oven!).
Bill Kern announces the winners.
Dick Cooley '51 Jan. came all the way from Ft. Myers, Florida just to buy his winning 50-50 raffle ticket that netted him $47!

Without the volunteers this event couldn't have gone as smoothly as it did.
Thank you volunteers!
