2009 West High School Winter Vocal Music Concert - Monday December 14, West High Auditorium under the direction of Mr. Aaron Moore
The program began with Handbell Choir playing "Frosty the Snowman." The 'new-this-year' Junior Handbell Choir followed with "Holy, Holy, Holy" and "Joy to the World." Then the Handbell Choir played Rudolph the "Red-Nosed Reindeer" and "I'll Be Home for Christmas." Their hard work showed as both of the Handbell Choirs were excellent.
It was nice to see the first floor of the auditorium nearly filled to capacity. The tickets were only $3 per person with the proceeds supporting the West music programs.

The low lighting in the Auditorium didn't allow our picture of the Senior Solo by Brandon Green who sang the Michael Buble very popular song "Home" to be printed here, but he was excellent and very well received.
Brandon was followed by the String Ensemble under the direction of Mr. Mark Sampson.
The String Ensemble performed "Voluntary and March," "An African American Air," and "Christmas Medley." They were very good and appreciated by the audience.
West senior Justin Cotton performed his own arrangement "Theme and Variations on 'The Carol of the Bells.'" He is a wonderful pianist and the audience showed their appreciation for his performance.

The Junior Choir appears to be larger this year. They began with "A Holly Jolly Christmas."

They followed with "The Best Gift of All" with a solo quarter by Courtney Bivens, Brianna Clements, Desiree Henson, and Kaylila Prillerman.
They also sand "It's the Holiday Season" and The Wind Beneath My Wings." They were accompanied by Mr. Nathan Laing who was superb.

After intermission, the Ensemble performed. This is the same group who performed at the Alumni Christmas Luncheon the previous Saturday. However, the acoustics in the West Auditorium are so much better than at the Fawcett Center. They were good at the Fawcett Center, but they sounded so much better at West!

Their program was very similar to the one performed at the Alumni Luncheon.
All of the kids were so enthusiast, and the audience appreciated their performance.
After the Ensemble performed, Officer Brent Snyder, the Columbus Police Officer assigned to West, once again did a special performance. This year he sang "End of the Beginning." Everyone enjoys Officer Snyder's singing, which is excellent.
Mrs. Kristin Michels does the choreography for the Ensemble.
The Senior Choir also appears to be up in numbers this year. They sang "Adoramus te," "Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silence," "Carol of the Bells," and "Christmas Pops Trio." They performed excellently. The Senior Choir was also accompanied by Mr. Nathan Laing.
As is customary, the 'Grand Finale' included several West High alumni who were invited to join the Senior Choir on stage. While not all alumni went to the stage, there were quite a few who joined the choir in traditional "The Hallelujah Chorus."
The program ended with the singing of the West High Alma Mater.
All Alumni are always invited back for this traditional Christmas program, which is usually performed around the middle of December. Watch for the date to be listed in the Alumni website Calendar next year and make an effort to attend. It will bring back many memories.
